Quick visit to HCMC
We have just had a holiday!
On impulse, I organised a visit to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam. The kids were on school holidays, and Tom was unable to work on the boat due to a pinched nerve injury. It was the perfect opportunity to soak up some Saigon ambience and cuisine.
We stayed at the Hotel Majestic Saigon at No 1 Dong Khoi, District 1, HCMC and it was excellent. The hotel was not as old as some other South East Asian hotels from the colonial periods, but it was in very good condition and had been modernised in a discreet and unobtrusive manner.
A highlight of the trip was a private charter of one of the Saigon River Express speedboats, for a four hour tour of HCMC. This is a new ferry service, run by Ian Fogg, who provides a wonderful personalised service. It was a relaxing way to experience the unique waterways of this vibrant city.
