The next job I had was fitting the prepared 13.5mX1.7mX13mm sheer panel, one of the two largest panel in . Judy was at work and I couldn’t find anyone else willing to slave for a few hours and be lucky if they got a beer for their trouble. So I had to think up some ancient engineering technique. I had always thought I didn’t have any overheads to lift from, until I realised the aquatech rope supporting the shed carried approx 3 tonne of rainwater for about 20 mins until the poly tarp gave up. Therefore I reckoned they could carry approx 75kg without any problems.
This is what I did to move a panel that Bob and I lifted together for the starboard hull. The really awkward thing about this is that Duflex is extremely flexible along one plane and therefore I was handling the world’s biggest wobble board (Australian musical instrument).
Re above photo:
- Layup table supports knocked over like a line of dominos by the wriggling of the panel.
- Expert photography shows movement!
- Photographs taken from the winch operating area which is well away from the bloody thing!
