Ventilation and light

We have been spending a lot of time in the last few days discussing the layout, type and quantity of portals, for both light and air, that we will have on Binary. We have decided on hatches and opening port-lights only, no boat windows.

There are a number of reasons for this, but the stand-outs are the complete lack of boat glazing interest on my part, access to such knowledge and material availability in our location. We also have a vested interest in total air flow and a contrary requirement for keeping the radiated light and heat at bay.

So now we have ordered more hatches and port-lights, and rearranged the planned location of quite a few. I continued with the catwalk beams, whilst Judy led the mark up of the BCB hatch and door locations. I have now started making more hatch and port-light templates.

Below – the work (pencil marks) on the BCB and the template for the 627mm hatch cut-out.
