It must be obvious from the plethora of posts regarding core reinforcement that I am obsessed, or it’s just that with composite construction, fibreglass/epoxy waterproof reinforcements are required for mounting fittings of all sorts.
Yes, these reinforcements are a little tedious, but quite quick to complete with the correct tools and I am also lucky to have a climate that ensures a timely working cure.
Here are different fibreglass/epoxy reinforcements for the door furniture both on the door and on the BCB
Below – 5mm routed away from the lower doorway framing to allow inseting of the 316 (A4) stainless piano hinge.
Below – Same again, but overhead in the doorway framing for the upper door.

Below – Only down to the lower laminate.
Below – Edges gouged out for the uni straps and hole-saw pilot holes covered with tape.
Below – Uni straps have been laid (no photo) into the edges of each Duflex layer and a layer of thick glue applied to make smooth edges with the final cut out.
Below – The hole saw was then used to cut out from the other side, guided by the pilot hole impressions in the glue.
Below – A view of the location relationships of most of the reinforcements.
