I am hoping to achieve a much better finish on the draining gutter and associated sealing surfaces by infusing the 400gram double bias reinforcement. The lay up is fairly complex due to the 3 dimensional nature of the item. The line installation has a single point vacuum outlet and an all-round manifold resin inlet. The layout went together well and now we are ready to test the bag for leaks and see how neatly the matrix of materials lays down under atmospheric pressure.
My primary concern is that the vacuum outlet is downhill from the resin inlet, however I can’t see a way around this as I need to see the resin flow which is not an option if the structure is horizontal. I could infuse with the structure vertical, but this would mean resin flow over a greater distance.
As with most boat work the key to a good job is in the preparation, so these photos show the layup, bag arrangement, and line installation.
