Bob Oram has visited us during the past few days, and more importantly he sailed in as part of the crew for Bryan and Rowena Beutel’s ‘Tribute’ a 39’Mango. While we did not get any boat built, we however enjoyed long discussions driven by a wealth of experience in sailing and building. Bryan and Rowena , building a 44C in south east Queensland, are a bit more advanced than us and being their second build, they were most informative.
This post of building completed today, only shows the panels being offered up, fitted and bonded in, so I must mention that I offered up both a number of times before I got the shape right. The panels must be almost a mirror image of each other to allow the next step of curving up the bridge deck to meet neatly. Maybe its just me, however I heard Bob repeating again, this time to Bryan that I was “building a swiss watch”.
