After much discussion and research in relation to building a sacrificial keel, we have decided to use two layers of 4mm hardwood ply over the whole length and width of the keel. High Density Poly-ethalene (HDPE) was a highly favoured option, but the cost and method of attaching to keel was a hurdle we couldn’t summount.
In this photo Atticus and I are using the Starboard keel panel as a template to cut out the 4mm hardwood ply for the sacraficial keel.
