Convex in the cockpit and concave in the beam

Two very different join reinforcing tasks today.

First up this morning, I enjoyed some long and short boarding of the filled round-over edges from yesterday, see previous post. It is actually very satisfying to see nice curves emerge from clumps of epoxy filler. Judy said they looked great when she came to work with me, so then we spent a few hours covering these nice edges and outer joins. The reinforcing is with 140mm wide, 750gram weft triax.

Mid afternoon, I started filleting and taping the internal bottom joins in the first catwalk beam. This item has been languishing as a job that, I will one day, “get around to”. Atti assisted with some mixing and handling of the long tapes onto the job.

Below – Photos of the fillets and the manoeuvring to get the tape into place and applied. A little peel ply added in the last photo to facilitate further bonding.
