This is the same process documented in an earlier post about the front locker hatches. The main difference with these engine locker lids is that we took photographs whilst actually applying the glass.
The size of the lids means that they should be strengthened by doubling the lid thickness at the point where the latches and hinges are attached. Instead we chose to de-core them and fill with epoxy and 40 layers of biaxial glass tape cut to size (110mm x 110mm). With three hinges and two latches per lid, that meant cutting 400 pieces – a task which didn’t take as long as I expected.
