Now that the bridge deck leading edge is secured on one side I spent a couple of hours removing peel ply from the inside of the kerfed, shaped and glued panel, and then sanded any excess glue.
We then measured once and cut twice, two layers of double bias , the second cut was the right size, so Judy put away the undersized versions and relegated me to non measuring duties for the rest of the day.
These duties involved wetting out this large area of glass and applying peel ply over, then whilst still wet, building two fillets at the ends and taping in with 750gram weft triax. Although being doubled over for a few hours was murder on the back, the job seems to have turned out alright considering we could have mucked it up completely as we caught ourselves almost starting with the West resin instead of the Kinetix 246 TX and H160 hardener.
The Kinetix allows us sufficient working time for an extensive area such as this internal surface.
After a good sleep which eased the muscle soreness, I sanded and shaped the fillet of the outside of the top bow chamfer panel and then we applied reinforcement tape to complete the final part of that job. I also took the opportunity to cut away the forward end of this panel to allow the fitting of the fore beam.
The photos below show this all much better than my words and include a new wet out table Judy has just put together:
